Jack was one of the dominant riders of the event
On last weekend (14th/15h January) the Zeelandhallen in Goes, Netherlands was the venue for the 19th edition of the International Supercross of the Stichting Motorsport Zeeland. At the start, in the Inters MX2 class for the Rabbit Racing Team Kawasaki Benelux was 21-year-old Englishman Jack Brunell (GBR), who would finish the event in second place.

Despite not quite perfect track conditions, the Kawasaki pilot from Old Windsor, Berkshire, was able to get a good gate for the evening races with the fourth fastest lap time of his class in the qualifying session on Friday: "The track in Goes was quite wet and difficult and it was also quite tight. I found a good rhythm and was able to post the 4th fastest time." In the evening was a series of heats, in which the riders have to qualify for the main event. With victories in his two races Jack did so with flying colours: "In the first heat I was against most of the good riders. I got the holeshot and rode a good race to win by 8 seconds. In the second head I got again the holeshot and rode a strong race. I took the win by 17 seconds and so I was feeling confident for the rest of the weekend."

The main competition on Friday evening was a "One vs One" race, in which a pair riders raced for two laps and the winner qualified for the next round. In this competition Jack was the clear winner: "In the first race I was against Terreblanche. I got the holeshot and rode for an easy victory finishing 3 seconds clear after the 2 lap race. In the second round I was against Wybo. I managed to get the better start but he went tight and passed me through the whoops. We were having a good close battle and at times he got a little lead on me. On the rhythm section I had a lot of time and passed him before the whoops. However I made a small mistake and we touched coming into the corner. My front wheel caught his back wheel and we both crashed. I was able to get up faster and took the win. In the semi-final I was against Macler and I got the holeshot. I was able to ride quite comfortably and take the win. In the final I was against Greedy so I knew it was going to be a good battle. I got the better start and manged to keep enough lead on him to take the win."

Also in the timed practice on Saturday Jack was once again one of the fastest riders: "The session went well and I got the second fastest time which meant I would have a good gate in the heat race." The riders then had two heat races to advance to the final: "In the first heat I got the holeshot and pulled away to take a good win. I was happy with how the race went and was saving some energy for the final. In heat two I got a bad start and found myself at the back. I was able to make some passes and worked my way into 3rd. I tried catching the leaders but settled for 3rd as I knew the final was more important."
The highlight of the event was the 12 lap final of the Inter MX2 class. Jack got a very good start and after a good battle crossed the finish line in second place: "I got the holeshot in the final and started to ride hard. I was trying to pull away but it was difficult as we were all the same speed. Chatfield was right behind me and I knew I had to ride hard. I made a small mistake and he passed me but then I passed him in the rhythm section. We then battled through the whoops and I took the lead again by jumping the triple. But he went tight and blocked me taking over the lead. We stayed close for the rest of the race but I was unable to get close enough to pass."

Despite the fact that the victory in the final eluded him, Jack was positive: "I was happy with how the weekend went as I won the one vs one, won 3 of the 4 heats and finished 2nd in the final. I must thank the Rabbit Racing team for building me such a good bike and I will rest before I go to the Supercross in Apeldoorn, Holland. It should be good practice for the British Supercross series."
